Straw Bale School at Standing Rock

A straw bale school was recently constructed at the Sacred Stone Camp at Standing Rock for the children of the camp. It is uncertain what the fate of the school will be now that the camp has been raided and bulldozed. See below a video of the building of the straw bale school.


Cob oven in LA

This Cob oven was just built in Hollywood, LA for the owner of Squirl restaurant, by Miguel Elliott of Living Earth Structures.

Cob, Adobe Bench at Casa Grande High School, Petaluma


This article was featured in the Press Democrat about the cob, adobe benches we were making at Casa Grande High School in Petaluma.  WE made two benches one inthe shape of a C and the other in the shape of a large G.

Cob Classroom in San Antonio Elementary School

  This outdoor cob classroom was built during the Lightening in a Bottle Permaculture Day in Lockwood.  It was made using adobe bricks, bottle bricks and cob.  The build was lead by Miguel Elliott, Sir Cobalot of Living Earth Structures.  It was so great seeing the kids all helping build their classroom.  Everybody in the community is very happy with how it all turned out.

Sunnyslope Cobin

I have finished building my Cobin in Petaluma.  It has a cob oven inside which heats up the room as well as the bed, a fish tank in the wall, a grass roof, earthen floor, LED lights embedded into the stainglass, and is super cozy.  The dome sauna is outside.

Natural Building at Damanhur, Italy

I have recently returned from Damanhur, Italy where I worked on finishing a cob earthbag dome that had been started a year earlier.  It was in the Dendera Community.  The following video offers a tour of the Damanhur community and of the earthen house I built.

Bird Nest Bench

It involves staking bamboo poles into the foundation to support a roof.

I did this bench in Marin in just a few days, and it is so satisfying to have the roof

Cob oven at San Francisco Waldorf School

Oven at Waldorf SChool   This week I was invited to come present at the waldorf High School in San Francisco.  We built this little cob oven, and the kids made little models.  It was good fun, and the kids got a chance to get their hands and feet in the mud.

New Cob Oven in Oakland!

Last week, I built a new cob oven for the new Oakland Sustainability Center. New Lovin OvenWe fired it up and made pizzas for an open house last weekend.
